Sensex was down by 400 Points

Indian Stock market witnessed a fall of 400 points or 2.2 percent in the early trades on Tuesday,The market tumbled because of the worsening conditions in quake-stricken Japan which almost sent markets in Asian sharply lower.Nikkei average dived to two-year lows and Japanese government bond futures rose more than a full point on the day on Tuesday as the crisis at the quake-stricken nuclear power plants escalates. Nikkie average fell more than 11 per cent to 8556.67, its lowest level since April 2009, while benchmark 10-year JGBs jumped more than a full point to a three-month high of 141.17.

Food inflation in single digit at 9.52 Per Cent

After 3 months or so the Infaltion has fallen to single digit , The inflation data was released today and the inflation is at 9.52 per cent for the week ended February 26 on account of a decline in prices of potatoes, pulses and wheat.
Food inflation stood at 10.39 per cent in the previous week. The rate of price rise of food items has fallen to a single-digit figure for the first time since the week ended December 4, 2010, when it was 9.46 per cent.

The Union Budget of India, referred to as the Annual Financial Statement[1] in Article 112 of the Constitution of India, is the annual budget of the Republic of India, presented each year on the last working day of February by the Finance Minister of India in Parliament. The budget has to be passed by the House before it can come into effect on April 1, the start of India’s financial year. Former Finance Minister Morarji Desai presented the budget eight times, the most by any.[2]
Budget Timing
Until the year 2000, the Union Budget was announced at 5 pm on the last working day of the month of February. This practice was inherited from the Colonial Era, when the British Parliament would pass the budget in the noon followed by India in the evening of the day.

It was Mr.Yashwant Sinha, the then Finance Minister of India in the NDA government (led by BJP) of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who changed the ritual by announcing the 2001 Union Budget at 11 am.[5]

Maruti’s success of supplying A-Star to another Japanese carmaker Nissan Motors , which re-badges the same car as Pixo for sales through its own network in Europe.This has bagged another deal for Maruti , Maruti Suzuki will supply its latest compact car A-Star to Volkswagen AG . The car, which will undergo some modifications and design changes, will be sold in India and Asian markets under a new brand, according to senior officials in the automobile industry. Volkswagen holds 20% stake in Maruti’s parent company Suzuki.

State Bank of India Bonds selling at good rate in Grey Market

State Bank of India’s high-yielding bonds which was open to market yesterday which is fetching a near 10% interest for 15-year bonds from a sovereign-backed institution led to many conservative investors and traders piling on to buy them for which applications will be accepted in just 126 of the more than 12,567 branches.As it requires De-mat and also its not open in all the banks it will be fist cum first serve the subscription figure is not yet known as it has to be counted manually , But already investors are making Rs 13,000 in the grey market on selling bond applications for Rs 5 lakh, traders say. They are speculating the bonds will fetch at least Rs 5.2 lakh at the time of listing in March. These transactions are unwritten contracts between traders in a select group that are honored once the securities list irrespective of profits or losses.

SBI Bond Issue Opening up today

SBI which ;aunched its bond issue for the first time to retailers in January 2011 was a huge win among the retailors is coming out with second set of BOND today .

The bank is launching its bond offering to raise up to Rs 2,000 crore, in which investors have the option to invest either for 10 years or for 15 years, with the shorter durations bonds offering 9.75% rate of interest, while the longer duration ones giving 9.95%. However, interest income from these bonds are taxable in the hands of the investors. Also, the bank will offer lower rates of interest for non-retail investors, which will be 9.30% and 9.45%, respectively for 10-year and 15-year papers.

The Bond will open up on February 21, 2011 and will close on February 28 2011, and will be listed on the debt segments of NSE and BSE.

Inflation data came out today and Food inflation declined sharply to 11.05 per cent for the week ended February 5 from 13.07 per cent in the previous week, mainly owing to cheaper pulses and a moderation in onion prices even as the kitchen staple remained over 31 per cent dearer on a yearly basis.

Japanese auto major Honda informed the market that Honda SIEL today said it is recalling 57,853 units of its mid-sized sedan City in India to replace a faulty engine part, as part of a global exercise.The company, which runs operations in India through a joint venture with the Siel Group — Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) — said the recall will cover only the third-generation City models that were manufactured between November 2008 and December 2009.So My car doesn’t come into picture here it was bought during 2005.The Recall is to carry out preventive part replacement of the lost motion spring in the valve train of the City sedans being recalled.
